Future Plans

Further development and expansion of the Helensville Pioneer Museum's new Riverside Reserve is planned, and could begin later in 2006.

A heritage centre commemorating our founding President, the late Hec Nicholls, who was an active member until his death in 2002, is in the planning stages.

Featuring agricultural equipment displays, and other large items, the building will also house the all important workshop for the volunteer workers’ team.

Meantime funding for the planned Plaza Deck, linking the Schoolhouse and Hedley Cottage, is to hand (March 2006), and the work will commence as soon as the builders are available. The deck will be an extension of the current walkway and will provide a substantial area suitable for fine weather assembly point for visiting groups, for serving teas, or special displays.

Long term plans include the provision of a suitable roofing for this area.
